I want to talk about something that might seem highly unusual to most people, especially if you are an “employee” still, and have an employee mindset, or “paycheck” mindset.
Basically what that is, is that in the employee world and mindset, you’re working for a paycheck. You’re trading your hours for dollars and you are regularly paid on the same day, every month, weekly or bi-weekly.
In the flipping business, or any other type of self-employment venture PERIOD, the game is completely different.
One of the most challenging humps to get over is simply the mental adjustment you’ll have to make, which is getting away from the employee and paycheck mindset, and throwing yourself into a profits and marketing mindset.
So what this means is that the time you put in, all those hours — you’re no longer gonna be trading your time for money. Instead, the one thing that’s going to determine how much money you can make with flipping things, is how good of a marketer you can become.
If you can become an awesome, killer marketer, then you will be able to almost write your own paycheck in the flipping business. Meaning the more marketing efforts you put in, the more money you’ll be making.
So just stop and think about that for a second. It might not sink in as you’re reading this now, and that’s totally normal, especially if you grew up all these years being told this is how you do it; you go to work, punch in, work 8 hours, lunch/breaks, more work, punch out, go home, get a paycheck.
That might be how your parents have done it, so it can be extremely challenging to break out of this mindset but again like I said when I tell people I made $31,200 in one year flipping things — all while working a full-time job — it doesn’t mean I was working 80 hour weeks.
It doesn’t mean I was working my 40 hour per week full-time job and then another 40 hours outside of that flipping things.
The paycheck and employee world is completely different from the marketing and profits world. They are two conflicting worlds. Two worlds going toe to toe and two worlds that are completely different from one another.
You have the paycheck and employee world, and then you have the profits and marketing world. Meaning, to make that $31,200 in that one year, every week, I probably spent maybe five, six, seven hours total and that’s how I would make it.
Now you might be surprised to hear that because you might not be used to it. It might even sound outrageous or you might feel skeptical. Even simply the thought of making $500 per hour might seem outlandish and unrealistic.
But it’s not. And it’s real, possible, and completely reasonable. And you can do it too. Again remember: paycheck and employee world vs. marketing and profits world. Two different animals.
In the marketing and profits world, you can do things that are impossible in the paycheck and employee world.
Flipping Ninja Math
Let’s do some quick math, just to see how much you are getting paid per hour at $31,200 in one year.
So let’s pretend you’re working, just to be on the safe side, let’s say you’re working 7 hours per week. And this consists of looking for deals, driving, picking things up, buying them, going to thrift stores, bringing them home, marketing and reposting them up for sale. Let’s say 7 hours per week.
There’s 52 weeks in a year, so were going to do 7 hours × 52 weeks, that’s 364 hours.
364 hours that you have “worked” in one year (now again remember we’re not looking at this from a employee/regular paycheck mindset. Were looking at it through a profits and marketing mindset).
So 364 hours. Now let’s do $31,200 divided by 364.
$31,200 / 364 hours = $85.71
That means you’re getting paid $85.71 per hour. Every hour you worked. And you’re only working 7 hours per week.
Now think about that. If I were to offer you a job that pays you $85.71 per hour, and you only had to work 7 hours per week, would you be pretty happy with that?
I would be.
I was. Because I did it. You can too.
Now think about it this way. If you were offered that, wouldn’t you probably even want to work more than just 7 hours per week, and make more?
So that’s why the flipping business has so much leverage because it’s not a game of hourly pay, working as an employee, and trading your time for money.
It’s a game of profits and marketing.
So that means if you wanted to make more money, you’re going to have to become a better marketer. And obviously, there’s more to it than that, you’re going to also have to learn these other vital skill sets and parts of the flipping business like how to find deals, what to look for, how much should you charge, how much is something worth, how to market, how to post the item on different channels to make sure you get maximum exposure and your item sells quickly (and for top dollar, putting more money into YOUR pocket), and then you’ve got the marketing of course which is like this giant umbrella that covers many little things.
So the point, the main message is if you want to make more money as a flipper, become a better marketer, really fine-tune your marketing skills, and it will pay off literally for the rest of your life in whatever you sell.
That’s why I created The Flipping Ninja Blueprint. Because there’s more to flipping things than just buying low and selling high. There is this whole world of marketing, creativity, leverage, and it’s a universal skill set that will serve you for the rest of your life.
I want you to pay the price today, invest your time, energy, and money into the greatest asset in this world which is YOURSELF, and reap the rewards for the rest of your life. Anywhere you go. You’ll be like a money magnet who can make sales, produce profits and make money wherever you go because you’ve invested in yourself and learned the required skill sets needed to thrive and be successful.
I’m talking about true mastery. That’s what I train my students for in The Flipping Ninja Blueprint.
As a Flipping Ninja, since we’re stepping away from this paycheck and employee mindset, still, the decision to set aside time, to market things, and make sure shit gets done, is all on you.
If you can’t be disciplined, ready and willing to learn, then do what I tell you to do, then the Blueprint is not for you and it will be a complete waste of money.
But if you DO have even a little bit of discipline, it will not only pay for itself in a weekend, but you’ll 10x (easily) or even 100x (I’ve done it) your investment in yourself.
Think about it this way. Imagine if someone you trust came up to you and said look, give me $297 and I’m going to give you $29,700 in return for it. In fact, I’ll give you back your $297 by next weekend. Not just that, you’re STILL going to get the remaining amount I told you about, and more the following weeks, months and years, for the rest of your life. Is that okay?
What would you say? I know what I’d say.
ABSOLUTELY. Because I respect myself enough to invest in myself and develop new skill sets and improve in any way I can. I know that I’m worth investing in, so of course I’d buy it.
Simply put, I wanna teach you how to make money.
Now remember — If you’ve gotten behind on your marketing, then you’re going to get behind on your sales and profits.
But happens when you don’t even know HOW to market? You’re screwed. You try to go at it with limited information and no skill, resulting in wasted time, money, and opportunity.
That’s not what you got into the flipping business for. You got into it to start making money that you can use for paying down debts, funding a business or personal project, quickly making down payment money for a house, or like many others, you just want an additional income stream.
Maybe you want to do this full-time like I do and have complete freedom, while not having to answer to a boss, be told what to do, be told when you can or can’t take breaks, when you can take vacations, how many “sick days” you have, and… should I even go on?
It’s simple. Become better marketer, charge more. Become a better marketer, sell more. Become a better marketer, be more successful. You can’t afford to not be trained in this and learn. Think about the math we did earlier.
Instead of making that $85.71 per hour, imagine only making $20 per hour because you didn’t have the skill sets, knowledge, and confidence to demand higher prices. Or you TRY, but it’s just not working. What would that be?
364 hours times $20, that’s only $7,280 per year.
$7,280 vs. $31,200
The guy or gal who invested in themselves, developed the knowledge, skill sets, and confidence to succeed in this business is making $23,920 more per year.
The Flipping Ninja Blueprint is not cheap. But if you’re worried about price, then you’ve got a much bigger problem than the money. You should instead be more worried about the $23,920 that you’d be completely missing out on and leaving on the table — literally rejecting more money into your pocket.
Invest in yourself. I’m here for you. I’m your friend, coach, mentor, brother, son, uncle — I’ll be whatever you need me to be to help you out — and anything I can do to get you successful in this game, I will do.
